Sharing Teacher Training Experience - 2015

Happy, radiant graduates from Level 1 Teacher Training of 2015

Back in the summer of 2015, a group of students graduated from our Level 1 Teacher Training program. It was evident at the graduation ceremony, how much these wonderful individuals have achieved in their training. From their shining, smiling, faces and their bright, bountiful energy, we know that their journey in the program was very fulfilling, full of tremendous growth and meaning for them.

Deshjot Kaur (Leslie), one of the graduates, shares with us here her experience with the training:

Taking my Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Phoenix was truly a life changer for me.  If I had known how transformative it would be, I'd of put it on my bucket list.

I've been "dabbling" with Kundalini Yoga for years, but for me, it took the teacher training class to establish a solide personal practice.  I have gained a new appreciation and love for yoga as a result of this in depth training.  I've learned how to apply this technology for my own personal growth and to shift areas of my life that needed some "refurbishing".

The community that surrounds Yoga Phoenix is amazing.  It includes a spectrum of people who may be brand new to yoga all the way to those have followed this path for over 40 years  They gather frequently for pot lucks, social events, retreats, camping trips and community support.  It's all of this and more, that has made Yoga Phoenix such a great place to experience teacher training.

Because they are a non-profit they allow new graduates to offer classes at their studio.  Their focus in on supporting the student, not on making a profit. Their vision aligns with my life philosophy. They encourage us to use Yoga Phoenix as a launching pad, to create new classes with new themes.  The members come to our classes, offering support and encouragement as we teach.

I took the training because others told me of their wonderful experiences and the deep understanding of yoga to be gained.  I intended to use this knowledge to help me be a better yoga leader at the hospital where I work. I never intended to teach out in the community and yet here I am on fire for teaching, feeling so well trained and prepared that I am excited to share this technology with others.

Being a part of the Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Class at Yoga Phoenix has been a huge blessing in my life.

Suzette, another graduate from 2015, also enjoyed her experience with teacher training:

“This was, by far, the best thing I have ever done for myself, in my life! It changed my vibration, and I started healing from the core of my being. Becoming a teacher is secondary to the amazing personal spiritual growth. Now I teach cancer patients. The more I teach, the more I heal! I can only say – do not delay, do it now. You deserve it!”

Suzette (also known as Margareth) now teaches Kundalini Yoga in Sedona, AZ.

Many other past graduates shared their experience with teacher training with us, and you can read them here

A Personal Message from Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Nam Kamal Kaur

Sat Nam Ji,

When I watched my first Kundalini Yoga video in 2011 in Tennessee, I heard the instructor comment about “her teacher” and wondered why I wasn’t exposed to a teacher like that and why I was in Nashville where there certainly (at the time) wasn’t any kundalini yoga offered anywhere. Fast forward to today and I realize why my destiny brought me to Phoenix -- predominately to have the teachers of a strong Kundalini Yoga community at my doorsteps!

Since I completed Teacher Training in 2012, I committed to taking advantage of the Level 2 Trainings that are held here by our legacy teachers. How fortunate we all are to have been gifted with the benefit of our Teacher Training program. I don’t know about you, but along the way, I have wavered and stumbled on my path. It has mainly been by plugging back into the energies and the community, that I dusted myself off, got up again, and have kept on going.

There is nothing quite like Level 1 Teacher Training with the frequency of the classes, exposure to new material, and a whole class to support us. I embrace the Level 2 Training because it provides the space and opportunity to delve further into the teachings and once again, be supported by a group.

This year the Level 2 course is on Lifestyles and Life Cycles. This module provides us with tools to map out the stages and cycles of our life and provide the tools to help us through each stage and the insight of stages we have already passed through (there are particular challenges within the 25-40 year lifecycle). And, we’ll practice a powerful form of re-birthing appropriate to the patterns we’ve adopted in each part of our lifecycle so that we can renew our self-concept and let our true character be reflected and projected. We’ll also learn more about the five blue ethers!

Even if it’s been years since your Level 1 class and you’ve never taken a Level 2 course, consider learning more about yourself and join me. The class runs two weekend: August 28-30 and September 5-7. Your soul will thank you!

Sharing Teacher Training Experience

What does one gain from Level 1 Teacher Training? A group of graduates share their thoughts.

2012 Graduate:

Since young I was on the quest of understanding who I am and my relationship with this world. It is through the Level 1 Teacher Training program that I found my answers plus other benefits. The technology of Kundalini Yoga and the guidance of our trainers gave me invaluable tools that I need in life: the tools to connect with my true self and to maintain my true identity. No matter how challenging life becomes, I have the knowledge and wide array of tools to help me navigate through all the obstacles. I am so glad that I took this training! Whenever something arises and tries to disturb my peace, I always know what to do and how to steer myself back on the right track. Even after the training has ended, the program is still growing me. All the knowledge and experience I gained from training continues to educate and grow me as I continue my practice. To this day I feel that all that I have learned is still helping me to shed layers of “old” me (that do not define me), slowly allowing the light inside me to shine brighter!

If you are the technical type and like to know how everything works, this training program will give you insights into the technology of Kundalini Yoga.  In teacher training we don’t always just sit around and study the principles of Kundalini Yoga, we also get to practice a lot of yoga. At the end of the training I became so much stronger (physically and mentally) and healthier. It is also a delight to be able to grow and learn with a group of friends. We started out as strangers, but at the end of the program we all became friends. Through this program we learn to open our hearts and accept each other, help each other to grow.

Taking Level 1 Teacher Training is like opening a treasure box, you won’t know what is inside until you open it, and you will always walk away with amazing treasures that will serve you for the rest of your life!

2013 Graduate:
"Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Phoenix was life changing for me.  The program gave me a complete experience of the technology.  During the months of Teacher training, my life morphed into ease, peace and fluid rhythm.  I became expansion and learned to vibrate with a heightened more neutral awareness than I had known before.

I would recommend this training to anyone who is looking to know their connection with the infinite and return home to their flow of eternal power.  I have learned how to interact with others from a place of grace, love and confidence.  I established deep relationships with other students in the class that I believe will be lifelong.  There is something about touching souls with profound understanding that is everlasting.  The material in the course is informative.   The teachers and community are supportive, easily approachable, heart centered and willing to serve you.  The environment of the course is uplifting.  I looked forward and cherished every weekend in the course.

As a Level One Teacher of Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan, I am now privileged to share the technology to others through my classes. Thank you Yoga Phoenix for providing me with tools and continued support to evolve and support others on their path"

2014 Graduate:

"Having taken another teacher training elsewhere, and practiced other meditation traditions, I can report that Level 1 teacher training at Yoga Phoenix is a comprehensive program that has given me a strong, deeply rooted foundation to teach from.  Personally I have never previously been as committed to a daily practice as since taking the training, and have found incredible strength within myself.  I received tremendous support and wisdom from the trainers, mentors, and Yogi B's required reading. I cherish the time I spent in the program and wish I could redo it all over again, I give it my higher recommendation and hope that many continue to take the time to learn the powerful teachings of Kundalini Yoga."

2014 Graduate:

"Level 1 Teacher Training at Yoga Phoenix?  Absolutely!  The classes were conveniently scheduled and no time off required from work since the classes were held on Saturdays and Sundays.  The lead teacher was flexible and supportive.  She did everything to ensure each student got as much from the course as possible.  The variety of teachers in the program exposed me to different teaching styles and different points of view giving me a well-rounded view of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan.  I just wanted to understand the technology but I got a lot more."
