40 Day Post White Tantric Meditation

This year at the end of White Tantric Yoga, Yogi Bhajan assigned us a 40 day meditation to keep up with the energy:

Posture: Easy pose

Eyes: Eyes are closed and focused on the 3rd eye point.

Mudra: Interlace all fingers except the index fingers. Keep the index fingers together, pointed upward and straight.

Breath: Long deep breath

Music:This is a silent meditation. If you would like to play music during this meditation, play Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo by Nirinjan Kaur.

Time: 11 minutes

End: Keep the posture, inhale deep and hold. Exhale and relax.

Good luck with your 40 day practice and do your best to keep up! Yogi Bhajan also requested that we keep a journal during our 40 day practice. After 40 days, you can send your journal with a letter to Yogi Bhajan at this address:

Happy Valentine's Day!

On this Valentine's Day we wish to share with you all some of Yogi Bhajan's wisdom on love:

"Your greatest strenght is love. Your greatest weakness is fear"

"Love is the ultimate state of human being where compassion prevails and kindness rules."

"Love yourself. Love your soul and let go of the past. Past pain is keeping you in pain. You don't have to deteriorate."

"Love is a process in which ego is lost and infinity is experienced."

"In love we honor. In love we grace people. In love we support. In love we sacrifice. In love we give. In love we elevate. In love we pray."

"Human love is for one thing only: to love your soul. The Infinite world around you will be in love with you."

Yogi Bhajan's 10 Points on Love:
  1. Love is blind. It never sees anything.
  2. Love is Infinite. What you hear is not worth anything. What is worthwhile, you don’t have to hear.
  3. Love is in silence and deep sound. It has no word.
  4. So when you are in love, you neither see, nor hear, nor speak.
  5. Experience your partner as yourself.
  6. Within yourself lies the grace which you can feel in the projection of your mate.
  7. Love is amalgamation—not adjustment.
  8. Love is sublimation—not a gross understanding.
  9. Love is a distillation and not a relation of feelings or emotions.
  10. Love is a consciousness and intelligence—living in another being and experiencing yourself.
If you can even understand these ten points, then feel that you are married—you are married in love.

Benefits of Chanting

Chanting plays a huge role in Kundalini Yoga. Many who are not use to chanting may be intimidated or find it strange, but a lot of reaction takes place inside the body and mind during chanting, and cause all sorts of positive changes in us!

There are a lot of benefits to chanting. Research from recent years have discovered that chanting can lead to the following results:
  • Lowers heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Triggers self-healing in the body.
  • Blocks the release of stress hormone and increases immune function of the body.
  • Reduces anxiety.
  • Alleviates depression.
To learn more about the research and the results on chanting please follow this link.

Need more reason to start chanting? 2014 is a 7 year. 7 represents our aura, our ability to uplift ourselves and others through our voice. Chanting is a great way to expand our auric field, keeping us healthy and positive!

So don't be afraid to take a Kundalini Yoga class just because you are not used to chanting. There is no judgement or criticism in a Kundalini Yoga class. As a matter of fact, Kundalini Yoga classes are filled with peaceful, calming, supportive energy, and understanding.

If you are new to Kundalini Yoga and chanting, Beginners Kundalini Yoga class is a good place to start. For those who want to dive more into the experience of chanting, try Guru Simran Singh's Special Tuesday Series: Meditation and Mantra that takes place every 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Go ahead, chant your heart out and enjoy the experience!

Comments from students on the Full Hour Chakra Gong event.

Saturday, February 15: Full Hour Chakra Gong Healing with Jaap Kaur
Students love our special gong events! Come experience for yourself the powerful healing effect of gong meditation! Students will do a little bit of yoga, and then lie down to enjoy the divine and healing vibration of the gong. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket.

This month's theme:

Feel sense the subtle, allow it to serve you!  And first we will get our limitations and thoughts out of the way so we can create mastery.  Clear mystery and frustration of trying to feel through our filter. Let the heart rule!
Gong will help clear out any clutter from body, mind, & spirit, & align chakras so we can build our energy strong and connected to flow with ease!  Nothing slows us down or holds us back!
Do little powerful breath and movement to get your energy flowing; then relax and let the Gong do the work for you!  Effortlessly benefit from the gong.  Manifest prosperity on all levels.
Life is short, take time to receive the gifts of nurturing support of the gong and clear the past.  Treat yourself each 3rd Saturday of the month.
“In your life, the worst thing that eats you up inside is when you remember your past – it is very anti-God.  Yesterday is gone.”  Yogi Bhajan

The Feldenkrais Method is for all level of movement ability.

Tuesday, February 25: Awareness Through Movement from The Feldenkrais Method
Erin Finkelstein teaches lessons from the Feldenkrais Method every 4th Tuesday of the month. Topics in each session will include breathing, moving through space, skeletal organization, differentiating, weight bearing, balance, and a general investigation of relationships within you.

Specifically designed movement lessons by the scientist Moshe Feldenkrias are gentle sequences that bring about awareness and new options in thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining. Awareness Through Movement lessons attempt to make one aware of his/her habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities and to expand options for new ways of moving while increasing sensitivity and improving efficiency. Many are based on developmental movements and ordinary functional activities. Some are based on more abstract explorations of joint, muscle, and postural relationships. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity. No experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothes. For more information email Erin at: Feldyfink@gmail.com.

Community Event: Guru Ram Das Chanting

Guru Ram Das Chanting
Date: Every Friday
Time: 7 pm
Location: 2325 N 9th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006

Every Friday night, come join our community members, Soul Singh and Meher Kaur in the Guru Ram Das chanting.  Anyone who is interested is welcome to participate and be part of a beautiful community!

The Guru Ram Das mantra is a mantra of humility, relaxation, self-healing, and emotional relief.

Soul Singh and Meher Kaur have been hosting the Guru Ram Das chanting every Friday night for the past 18 years! In her own words, Meher Kaur told us how this tradition started 18 years ago:

It was the Saturday night after Summer Solstice ended. My husband Soul Singh and I had been inspired on hearing that the Herndon ashram was having Guru Ram Das chanting every night. We decided that we would begin to host chanting every Friday night from then on.
I went off to KWTC and Soul Singh went back to Phoenix and started a tradition that has continued unbroken for 18 years.

Over the years we have had such wonderful musicians as Bibi Bhani Kaur, Snatam Kaur, Guru Ganesha Singh, Vickram Singh, Sangeet Kaur, Sat Kartar Kaur, Dev Suroop Kaur and many others.

Our community has counted on the chanting for celebrations, praying for those in need, and experiencing the coziness of community.

We are always being thanked for hosting the chanting, but it has brought more blessings to us, and our home than we ever could have imagined, all those years ago.

Blessings,
Meher Kaur
