Rise For Sadhana!

Whether you are new to Yoga Phoenix or have been a long time student here, we welcome you and salute you for your dedication to your own well-being. Yogi Bhajan said, “Happiness is your birthright.” Yes! You can have it all! Believe it or not, you can live a healthy, happy, wholesome, prosperous, fulfilling life! Happiness is within your own grasp and we are here to provide you the tools that you can use to manifest your own happiness.

Dear souls, remember that you are a powerful creative force! Go ahead, use the tools of Kundalini Yoga to rediscover your own power, your own magnificence. While you are at it, consider participating in morning sadhana. Do you know that the community here at Yoga Phoenix provides the service of morning sadhana? Every single morning of the year, rain or shine, even during holidays, we gather before sunrise to vibrate the cosmos.

I know it sounds daunting. It could be a real challenge (or just plain crazy) to leave your warm, cozy bed to do yoga and meditation at 3:40am! However, consider this, if you can overcome sleep and rise before the sun does to work on your own consciousness, you can overcome any challenges in your life.

Morning sadhana has so many benefits. The time period before the sun rises has the clearest energy and it is the perfect time for meditation, to clear out your mind, let go of your fears, worries, and stress. By doing that, you can face the new day with courage, grace, clear mind and positivity.  Also, by participating in morning sadhana you will gain a lot of energy to handle all the tasks and responsibilities of the day. It’s better than what a cup of coffee could give you! In addition to that, by taking part in morning sadhana, you are doing your body a huge favor. Doing yoga before the sunrise helps support the body’s cleansing process.

Lastly, practicing sadhana is the ultimate approach to change:
“All these changes that you are seeing in your personality did not happen because you got counseled, or your teacher was great. You all changed because you wanted to change and did sadhana. Sadhana changed you. All this other stuff is being done to keep you going. This is a rational approach, not an ultimate approach. The ultimate approach is when you want to change, and you do sadhana. Then you shall change.” -----Yogi Bhajan

When you practice sadhana, you are working on connecting with your true self which is your highest self. Who you are is the light inside you.

Please come attend sadhana for your own benefits:
"Getting up for sadhana in the morning is a totally selfish act- for personal strength, for personal intuition, for personal sharpness, for personal discipline, and overall for absolute personal prosperity” --- Yogi Bhajan

So come, ye bearers of light, come join us in morning sadhana. Come cleanse and renew yourself. You will rise like the phoenix, powerful, graceful, radiant, and magnificent!

Recap: Kids Yoga Festival

Last Saturday, May 18, 2013, Yoga Phoenix hosted a Kids Yoga Festival. There were many enthusiastic participants. We were thrilled to see so many kids and their parents having fun together at the festival!

We started the event with Beanie Baby Breathing Exercise, Beanie Baby Warm Ups, and Yoga Adventure. The teacher was Kewal Kaur who teaches Kids Yoga here at Yoga Phoenix every Saturday morning. Kewal Kaur has many years of experience with teaching kids yoga. Her gentle and kind demeanor always puts kids at ease which helps kids to learn and have a great time in class.

After the first yoga session, kids and parents had the opportunity to hangout on our covered patio while enjoying some healthy snacks. Kids also took the time to check out our craft booths and made some fun items like flower pen, little wax sculpture, yarn pom-pom, and portable meditation rock garden.

Then we moved on to more fun yoga activities! This time Jaap Kaur, also a very experienced Kundalini Yoga teacher, led the kids with activities like Yoga Countryside Bicycle Tour, Train Tunnel and Roller Coaster Ride. At the end of the session, Jaap Kaur played the gong for the little yogis and parents.

The rest of the festival was filled with more fun and activities. Many parents were surprised to see how different Kundalini Yoga is, but at the same time were pleased to see how our teachers engaged the kids with interesting exercises and activities.

Thank you so much dear parents and kids for attending our Kids Yoga Festival! It was our pleasure to be able to share the amazing experience and benefits of Kundalini Yoga with you all! We hope to see you all here again at Yoga Phoenix!

Teachers Supporting Teachers: Teaching Kundalini Yoga for Addictions

"Today we have a sincere unhappiness and people are continuing to look outside themselves for their answers.  What we do is we teach people how to find that peace within.  That’s where the answers lie.  We don’t create any miracle, we give simple food, simple exercises and a simple way to think."
                                                                        - Yogi Bhajan

Next Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 7pm to 8:30pm, Yoga Phoenix is hosting the Yogic Lifestyle Teacher Support event. On this special evening we have Nirmaljeet Singh (Stephen) to present his topic on “Teaching Kundalini Yoga for Addictions.”

Nrimaljeet Singh has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since July 2010. He also has completed Lifestyles and Lifecycles Level 2 Training. In February 2013 he completed the special training in SuperHealth Technology – Kundalini Yoga for Addictive Behavior in Espanola, New Mexico.

The abuse of substances and compulsive behaviors to alleviate pain and emotional trauma is epidemic in our society.  These behaviors often lead to addiction - manifesting in many ways.  This special event will introduce the basics of SuperHealth technology - Kundalini Yoga teachings given by Yogi Bhajan to break self-defeating patterns and habits.  Learn how you as a teacher or in your own practice can use these powerful techniques to break the cycle of insanity.

Kundalini Yoga works to correct imbalances in the brain affecting relaxation and activity -- often fueling addictive behaviors.  It offers a healthier way to deal with stress.  The will and determination -- the keep up spirit -- that kundalini yoga requires helps people regain control over their body and mind.  It turns the focus inward -- not on external chemicals and sensations.

Anyone interested in recovery -- teachers, therapists, and person struggling with addiction are welcome at this event.  No Kundalini Yoga experience is required.

Attendees are encouraged to attend the 3 hour workshop from 1-4PM on June 1st to expand on this introduction (follow this link for information on this workshop).

Nirmaljeet Singh is an excellent Kundalini Yoga teacher, don't miss out this opportunity to learn from him!
